    <title>Patrick Swayze Needs Hypnosis</title>

    <content type="html">We all remember Patrick Swayze from the classic film, &lt;i&gt;Dirty Dancing&lt;/i&gt;, and we have all been saddened by the news of his recent pancreatic cancer. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Even sadder is the fact that he still can't stop smoking! &lt;a href="http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/bizarre/article914095.ece"&gt;A photo of him&lt;/a&gt; is ciruclating with a cigarette hanging from his mouth and apparently his doctors have begged him to quit. White flour carbs and sugar cause weight gain and a host of other health problems&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2. Whole grain carbs are the good guys. They aid digestion, strengthen the heart and do not cause an insulin rush (i.e., weight gain).  Look for the word "whole" when buying whole grain breads. "Multi-grain" is not necessarily "whole grain." Neither is "All Natural Wheat." Food companies try to confuse us. Look for the words "whole grain" or  "whole wheat." &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3. Try some new whole grains. Some of my favorites are whole wheat cous cous and quinoa (in bulk bags in the photo). They are quick to make and delicious.     <content type="html">I hope everyone had a great holiday season. I know that I did. Now it's time to make the most of 2008. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Take advantage of the new beginnings / fresh start energy that is all around this time of year to set some goals for 2008. Goals are large and sweeping, like: &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I want to lose weight. &lt;br /&gt;I want to be more organized. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;After you set your goals, take some time and set intentions for each goal. Your intentions are real, live actions you can do now to support your goals. If your goal is to lose weight, your intentions for this week might be: &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Start using smaller plates at dinner. &lt;br /&gt;Put gym clothes where they are easy to access from work or home. &lt;br /&gt;Go through cupboard and throw away junk food and candy.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If your goal is to be more organized, your intention might be to buy a new calendar, keep a to do list in your purse or briefcase, and set your computer to send you reminders. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Goals won't work without the real actions that support them.  This is where the rubber meets the road and where you can get real traction and forward momentum.     <content type="html">One Year Ago...I remember  last year when Ellen Degeneres listed her new year resolutions in &lt;i&gt;Parade Magazine&lt;/i&gt;. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Her success with hypnosis caused her to write her #2 Resolution as,  "Continue to be hypnotized."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In early 2007, Ellen DeGeneres appeared on the Tonight Show where she spoke positively about hypnosis and how it helped her.     <title>Google Calendar: Another Great Tool for Organization</title>

    <content type="html">Can you tell I am in pre-new year's resolution  mode? &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I just started using a new web tool: &lt;a href="http://www.google.com/googlecalendar/tour.html"&gt;Google Calendar&lt;/a&gt;. After just two weeks, I am in love. I do not use it for client appointments, but I do use it for everything else. Here is why I find it useful:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;ol&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt; You can highlight an event's information (from Evite, an email or a web site) and when you paste it to Google Calendar, it knows to put the info like time, date, year, etc. in the correct slots. Less typing!  &lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt; You can create multiple calendars that overlay each other. I have color-coded calendars for: Bills, Social, Classes, and Business. You can reveal or hide any of these overlays.  &lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt; Lots of venues have Google Calendars you can subscribe to and import into your own (again with the option to hide it). I just subscribed to the Salvage Vanguard Theater's calendar of events and I can view their plays on my calendar easily any time I want without having to go to the  Salvage Vanguard Theater web site.  &lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt; You can create recurring events. I love this for bill payment reminders because a late bill these days usually means a late fee.  &lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt; You can set Google Calendar to send you reminders via email or mobile phone text message before the event.  &lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt; It's available at any computer that is on-line.  &lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt; You can share calendars with your partner, colleagues or friends; or make them private. &lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/ol&gt; &lt;br /&gt;Get organized for the new year!     <title>Get Organized with a New Tool</title>

    <content type="html">Hypnosis can help with organization, scattered thoughts and procrastination, but it's also important to have tools to keep you on track. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I have been playing with a web-based to do list called &lt;a href="http://www.rememberthemilk.com/"&gt;Remember the Milk&lt;/a&gt;. So far I really, really like. This is because &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1. It has an easy user-interface&lt;br /&gt;2. It's web based so I can access my to do list from any computer anywhere&lt;br /&gt;3. I found a way to keep it open in a sidebar for easy access all day long. &lt;br /&gt;4. It's free! &lt;br /&gt;5. You can add new tasks on the fly without closing a window or opening a special program (I used to use Palmpilot software)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Firefox Browser Note: Once you have an account, you can go to Organize Bookmarks in Firefox to create a new bookmark with this url  &lt;a href="http://www.rememberthemilk.com/services/modules/googleig/"&gt;http://www.rememberthemilk.com/services/modules/googleig/&lt;/a&gt; and check the box that says "Open in sidebar." I was unsure about where to focus my eyes. Next time I will create an outline so it's more organized.     <content type="html">Here are some tips for a  healthy, merry Thanksgiving! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Stuff the Turkey, not Your Belly!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Thanksgiving is a holiday known for love and gratitude...and for an abundance of food and drink. Did I mention lots of food? Here are 6 tips to minimize sensory overload, bloating, and hangovers.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;   1. Emphasize the joy and pleasure of time with friends and family time instead of focusing on the food and drink.&lt;br /&gt;   2. Eat and chew s-l-o-w-l-y so you savor the tastes. Slow down and enjoy your meal. Emphazie quality not quantity.&lt;br /&gt;   3. Take a small portions of a variety of foods. Don't pile it on. Pace yourself.&lt;br /&gt;   4. Take a walk in the morning and/or after dinner (and the next day) to burn off extra calories.&lt;br /&gt;   5. If drinking alcohol, drink slowly. Have a glass of water between drinks.&lt;br /&gt;   6. Serve and eat lots of vegetables.     <title>NLP Polarity Parts Integration</title>

    <content type="html">&lt;p&gt;Wow! I just finished a three-day NLP intensive with Tom Best. It was just amazing. A lot of my behaviors have changed in positive directions already. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;We practiced &lt;b&gt;Parts Polarity Integration&lt;/b&gt; which is used to integrate opposing parts of the personality. I can't wait to help clients with this powerful technique. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;I picked the part of myself that likes to stay up late (I named this part "the slacker") vs. the part that wants to go to bed early and get up early to be more productive (I  named this part Benjamin Franklin because he was so motivated to get things done).  &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The polarity parts integration worked so beautifully. Here's how I know:&lt;br&gt; &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The first thing I did when I got home on Sunday was to put a plan in place to read before bed. My bed didn't have an easy way to sit up and read and there wasn't enough light. So I rearranged the bedroom and made it conducive to reading. Now instead of watching movies or surfing the internet until 11:30 - 12pm, I can go to bed at 10:00 or so, read for a while, and go to sleep early. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;This meets the underlying goals that my "slacker" part desired by providing amusement and relaxation. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;It also meets the underlying goals of my Benjamin Franklin part by being productive and educational by reading and going to bed early.  If these underlying goals are met, you can create new, more resourceful behaviors. &lt;br&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Reading also makes me drowsy so I will go to sleep faster. So now those conflicting parts are working together and they are on the same team. Yay!     <content type="html">So I started using Twitter which is a quick on-the-fly blog that can provde an RSS feed of your day to day activities.
